Our Network

Complete fault-tolerance is ensured through the application of dual modular redundant best practices. Applied through BGP session management of multihomed gigabit upstream network connections, VLANs, network interface bonding, and the use of a unique network switch and router for each upstream link. Network intrusion detection systems (NIDS) trigger escalation procedures when anomolities are detected, helping ensure mitigation immediately begins at the onset of an attack.

Within our Core, Distribution and Access level switching fabric we utilize Access Control Lists (ACL), Virtual Local Area Networks (VLAN) and deep-inspection packet filtering and analysis. Distinct private enviroments are securely segmented through the use of unique private VLANs. Below the Access Layer, additional security services include but are not limited to: DDoS, Anti-Virus, Cross Site Scripting (XSS), SQL Injection, IPS and IDS.

Secure Virtual Private Networks (VPN) isolate individual customer traffic, as well as encrypting inbound and outbound management traffic.

Membership with ARIN, through an internationally regonized ASN AS14613 enables redundancy that eliminates single-provider network outages.

TOCICI's high performance and redundant dual-stack (IPv4 & IPv6) network enables you to utilize high bandwidth applications such as streaming media, video conferencing or gaming without buffering or loading delays.

Our network is never over subscribed. See for yourself:

Ready for IPv6?

If you are ready, then the image to the right will say that you're connected via IPv6. If you're not ready, then it'll say something else.

As-of January 20th, 2012, approxomately 18% of our visitors have arrived via IPv6. If you're not ready, and not using IPv6, then you do not have the ability to access at least 10% of the internet. All VPS and hosted servers are IPv6 ready, and we provide free IPv6 addresses to all customers. When you're ready, we're here to help.

Electrical Services

In plain English, we have ample power for even the most demanding systems. Our data facility is supported by nine electrical feeds off multiple regional electrical services providers.

Θ  Multiple 48VDC systems; combined 1600Amp capacity

Critical Infrastructure

Thanks to the fact that a police station, multiple medical facilities, an attorney general's office, and other critical municipal infrastructure resides within this downtown Portland building, we greatly benefit from being at the top of natural disaster refueling lists. This means that should the region experience an extended electrical power outage, the backup generators are guaranteed direct refueling before any other regional provider. No other data facility in Oregon has this type of energy security. If you don't believe us, just ask around.

If you would like to learn more about our Oregon colocation services, or, if you have a custom plan in mind, simply contact us so we can better understand your requirements.

Network & Connectivity

Θ  48 port GigE Layer3 switches (3x)
Θ  A zero-oversubscription policy

Multiple OC-12 and OC-48 redundant fiber optic connections link our data center to the Internet backbone, providing bandwidth and network capacity that delivers maximum reliability and scalability.

Datacenter

Θ  24/7 monitoring & support
Θ  Spare equipment with 1 hour turnarounds
Θ  Instant-on dry-pipe fire protection

Our assets are located on the West Coast of the United States within a Colocation and Network Access Point known as the Pittock Internet Exchange; the largest fiber-optic exchange point in the region. This is the only truly carrier-neutral data center in Oregon, with the largest network footprint of any Oregon provider. The Pittock is a Class A building with multiple fault-tolerant generator and battery backups, through-floor cooling, video monitoring, keycard locks, biometric scanners and individually locking cabinets.

Cooling

Multiple 15-20 ton, fully redundant HVAC environmental cooling systems with humidity control ensure that the data center is always operating at a temperature for optimum server performance. Raised floors allow for efficient cooling distribution via the Central N+1 Plant.

Security & Fire

Θ  Fully PCI Compliant
Θ  24/7 monitoring
Θ  Keycard & Biometric Identification
Θ  Video surveillance
Θ  Two-tiered fire suppression:
  Θ  FM 200

TOCICI - History

In 1995, during the days when AOL was "The Internet", GW Computers was established to formalize a then High Schooler's part-time computer service and repair business. In 1998, due to the owner's legal restoration of his original surname, GW Computers was aptly renamed to GB Computers.

In the years since, thanks in large part to the Internet's onset, the services offered by GB Computer's owner significantly changed. From general desktop computer service and support, to the design and management of increasingly larger international private networks. As the years passed, it became increasingly obvious that "GB Computers" no longer accurately identified the business. GB Computers was no longer some kid typing away on a misbehaving Windows machine.

In early 2008, during what is best-described as an early-morning epiphany, the name TOCICI was born. TOCICI is a play on the first letters from the phrase The Only Constant Is Change Itself, and mirrored the theme TOCICI has long operated under; providing effective communication and collaboration services, through information systems design, construction and management, in an unforgiving sea of swift and constant change. Since 1995 TOCICI has worked with mixed Linux, xBSD, MacOS, Solaris, SCO, Windows, and Netware networks.

We've designed and coordinated the construction of networks spanning across three continents, systems with more than 5,000 nodes, and our bread & butter clients are businesses with 2-25 employees. We'll enable utilization of the best tools on the fastest systems, and provide support you can count on. Put your business and IT systems on a path to recovery; contact us today.
